Probiotics are living microorganisms. As it is known, the use of antibiotics as a growth factor in animal feed has been prohibited after understanding the disadvantages of antibiotics on human and animal health. These legal developments regarding antibiotics have brought alternative feed additives such as probiotics to the agenda to fill the gap. Probiotics are biological products containing live bacteria or yeast cultures that are mixed in feed powder, granule, liquid suspension, capsule and pellet form or given to drinking water for purposes such as regulating gastrointestinal flora and fauna, preventing the development of pathogenic microorganisms and increasing feed utilization. Although probiotics improve animal performance, there are some privileges in their use. Indeed, it is the most important issue that probiotics contain living organisms. Therefore, probiotics and other feed additives should not be handled and commercialized in a similar way. In order for the storage period to be suitable, probiotics should be stored in the refrigerator or in a cool, dry place and protected from direct sunlight. Factors such as moisture content, pH level, contact with air and storage conditions significantly affect the viability of probiotics. In recent years, although significant progress has been made in feed processing, packaging and product standardization, feed processing has significant effects on the effectiveness of probiotics. Effects of probiotic use in dairy cattle nutrition In studies conducted by many researchers, it has been determined that probiotics have significant effects on milk amount and content as a result of probiotic use in dairy cows. The results of the studies made by various researchers and consisting of various rations are given below. The effect of probiotic usage on milk amount in dairy cattle feeding; |

In recent years, there has been a significant trend towards alternative growth factors due to the restrictions placed on the use of antibiotics as growth factors in animal nutrition. In this context, the use of probiotics, an alternative growth factor, in animal nutrition has become widespread. Probiotics support the balanced development of the gastrointestinal flora by reducing the number of pathogenic microorganisms (coli and salmonella) thanks to competetive exclusion. Therefore, significant improvements in animal performance can be achieved with the use of probiotics. |
